10 or more of the following traits together are reason for considerable concern. These are considered yellow flags, because the employee hasn't initiated any "attacking" behavior, but may have the personality traits that would allow such behavior. When you have answered the questions, press the score button and your answers will be evaluated. We do not view the results of your evaluation or which selections you have made. They are between you and this page.
(1) Is the worker profoundly narcissistic, exhibiting an overweening sense of entitlement and a predilection for deprecating others - a cover for a profound sense of powerlessness? These individuals hold themselves out as superior, and may be inclined to such pronouncement as, "Where do you get off criticizing me?" or "How dare you reject (or fire) me?"

(2) Do they have what co-workers describe as "sour" personalities - nothing pleases them?

(3) Do they interpret everyday events in an idiosyncratic and pernicious way, are repeatedly offended by "slights" and are convinced that they are surrounded by "enemies?"

(4) Are they perpetual "victims of injustice," and exhibit a disgruntled attitude regarding perceived injustices in the workplace?

(5) Are they controlling and demanding, and often act obsessively toward a co-worker or supervisor - behavior that persists despite counseling, admonitions or appeals to reason?

(6) Do they tend to make co-workers uncomfortable, even anxious?

(7) Are they prone to multiple gun ownership and exhibit excessive interest in paramilitary groups, law enforcement, survivalist organizations, fascist history, etc?

(8) In their minds, are mistakes always someone else's fault?

(9) Do they file one grievance after another? Could formal employment become subordinate to their career of litigation? Do they have drawers and boxes full of legal documents, which they are convinced prove their position?

(10) Do they exhibit numerous unresolved physical or emotional injuries or have a history of numerous unresolved physical or emotional claims against the organization?

(11) Though not every complaint reaches the threshold of litigation, do they daily make mountains out of molehills?

(12) Do they harbor persistent and inappropriate anger? Do they often express great interest in and approval of violent acts reported in the press? Spousal abuse? Shooting sprees? Capital punishment? etc.

(13) Do they belong to fringe right-wing, anti-government or racist political groups?

(14) Do they make cryptic but ominous statements such as, "Sooner or later everybody gets theirs...?"

(15) Are they task rather than people oriented? That is, are they often good workers in the technical sense, paying obsessive attention to detail? Are they also uniquely unempathetic and insensitive to others?

(16) Are they utterly humorless? When they attempt a joke, does it typically involve an inappropriate subject - dismemberment, the Holocaust, etc?

(17) Do they have a minor criminal record?

(18) Do they have a history of drug or alcohol abuse?
